Pocket Friendly Real Foods found in.....Wal-Mart

I wanted to see what real nourishing foods I could find in Wal-Mart so I can help refer people to products that may have limited availability where they live.

Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil $19.95 for 28 oz
This is a great deal for coconut as many pint sized jars from the health food store run about 12-15 dollars. Nutiva is a great brand from a quality source. Coconut oil is a great medium-chain fatty acid, meaning it's converted right into energy! It regulates the metabolism and helps with weight loss. It's great for longevity and exercise. You can eat it straight up to 3 tbsp a day. Or add it to smoothies, cook with it, replace it for butter. I love to cook pancakes, french toast and pop popcorn in it! It's a ultra healthy moisturizer for dry skin or eczema. It won't cause any irritation and the goodness of it will absorb into your body.

Organic Ghee (Clarified Butter) from pasture raised cows $7
Clarified Butter is a food used in traditional Indian cooking. It's great for frying, as all the milk solids have been removed so it can be used at high temperatures without oxidation. If you have a milk allergy, you can still use ghee since all the proteins from the milk are clarified out. try to fry your eggs or veggies in some Ghee today!

Organic Potatoes, I was happy to find these at Wal-Mart. $2
They are on the top 12 dirty dozen vegetables to buy organic. They are also going to be free from fungicidal sprays that are used on conventional potatoes.
Organic Greens *they also had spinach* $2.50
This price is comparable to the bags of Dole Spinach, and it's better because it's organic. Green leafies are also on the dirty dozen list, so buy organic when you can.

One other real- food I would suggest, that I didn't take a photo of, is Stonyfield Farm Organic Plain Whole-Milk Cream Top Yogurt. If you can't get yogurt from fresh milk, this is a great alternate. You can use yogurt for many things like soaking grains, making smoothies, making pancakes, or just making a yogurt +fruit+granola breakfast. It's about $3 for a quart of yogurt.
