Don't trust Mercury fillings.

The FDA has taken back it's word and research. They were stating that mercury and amalgam fillings is a known reproductive toxin and neurotoxin. Now, they've pulled the warnings against amalgam from children and pregnant women, even though they KNOW it's toxic. The big company that produces amalgam, Henry Schein Inc. has mingled with the FDA for untrammeled rights to market amalgam to everyone.
Once again, the FDA has failed to carry out it's mission of protecting the public health.

It doesn't make sense to me- amalgam filling materials are manufactured and shipped as HAZARDOUS materials. Remnants of amalgam materials are disposed at HAZARDOUS waste. Yet, you can ask for them to be inserted as a part of your body!!! It's just wrong!

We need to protect a new generation from having this toxin in their bodies. Don't get amalgam fillings, and don't let any child you know ever get one!

If you want to take a step farther here you go: Deputy Commissioner Joshua Sharfstein is the FDA official in charge of the amalgam rulemaking. The corporate big-shots have his e-mail address, and so should you -- it’s JMSharf1@fda.hhs.gov Or call him at 301.796-5000.

Some facts about mercury here:

Dental amalgam fillings are made from about 50 percent mercury and the rest an amalgam of silver, tin, copper, zinc and other metals.

Mercury is a potent toxin that can damage your brain, central nervous system and kidneys. Children and fetuses, whose brains are still developing, are most at risk, and that is why it’s especially dangerous for pregnant women to get an amalgam … but really anyone can be impacted. Again, those most at risk include:

  • Pregnant and nursing women
  • Children
  • Fetuses
  • People with already high levels of mercury bioburden
  • Those who are sensitive to mercury exposure
